Spider day :)

At home I do some real fun activities with Lily and Lexi to stimulate and entertain their young brains. Today we did Spiders :) In this activity we learned all about colors, counting, fine motor skills, sweet and salt and of coarse spiders.

Even though school started I was still in my PJ's feeding Ruby. I just love our out door class room. As winter is in the air we wont be able to do this much longer.

I cut out two of the cups on a egg tray to form the body of the spider. Lily and Lexi use a brush to paint the body of the spider. Each time they use a new color they had to first tell me the name of the color. It is a small space to paint on so it took some serious concentration.

We then talked about spiders and their anatomy. I told them that spiders had 8 legs and we counted to 8 a few times. It is so funny but Lily insists on leaving out the number 6 when counting. After the spider had legs we put it on a string and they took their spiders for a walk.

We then had lunch and I recited the itsy bitsy spider to them a few times with all the hand actions. They loved the show !!

The itsy-bitsy spider
Climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the itsy-bitsy spider
Climbed up the spout again
And they then had their afternoon nap ..... zzzz

In the afternoon we made spider biscuits. This was great fun, I made them taste the salty biscuit and the sweet icing sugar and we talked about the difference. Again counted the legs of the spider. As a challenge we named the colors of the small 100&1000 ;)

They were so exited to eat their cute spider cookies, and really enjoyed it.

After a long day we had a candle light bath with a CD playing and one of the songs was .... you guessed it ... Itsy bitsy spider. We sang along with it.

This coming Saturday we are going to a special friends birthday party. Marko is turning one year old. And this very special spider in now on Marko's birthday percent as part of the wrapping decor. We called him Fred. We hope you will make Marko smile Fred as we really enjoyed making you !!!
